Building a Literate Nation

Education is the cornerstone of everything MSA does. We believe that a literate community is a healthy, informed and prosperous one — and that every child, regardless of circumstance, deserves access to quality learning.

Schools We Manage

One mixed secondary school and three community nursery schools — serving displaced and host communities across Maridi County.

Girls We Sponsor

Full 4-year secondary school scholarships — covering tuition, materials, uniforms and all requirements from Senior One to Senior Four.

Teachers We Train

Capacity building for teachers and Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) to strengthen the quality of education delivered in schools.

What We Deliver

Our Education Activities

Six core focus areas that define MSA's work in education — each one designed to break down the barriers that keep children out of school across South Sudan.

01

Establishment and Management of Schools

Core

MSA runs and manages one secondary school and three community nursery schools, supporting youth and children to attain quality education. We established Maridi High School — a mixed secondary school in Maridi County — and established community Nursery Schools in areas where IDPs have densely settled. These schools help children of the displaced and host communities to get educated and have hope for the future.

02

Capacity Building to Teachers & PTAs

We invest in the people who deliver education. MSA conducts capacity building programs for teachers and Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in schools.

  • Pedagogy & classroom management
  • Child safeguarding practices
  • Community engagement skills

03

Distribution of Educational Materials

MSA distributes educational materials and facilities to schools and students — reducing the barriers to quality education.

  • Textbooks
  • Stationery
  • Desks
  • Facilities

04

Awareness, Creation and Sensitisation

Advocacy

MSA carries out massive community education awareness programs in an effort to promote education in the areas of our operation. We carry both in-school and out-of-school awareness programs targeting girls and their communities. In 2018, MSA massively conducted an in-school awareness campaign using women role models to talk to girls about the importance of education and the dangers of early marriage and unwanted pregnancy.

"Girls Decide Today and Save Your Future."

05

Sponsorships

Life-changing

MSA provides scholarships to girls in Secondary Schools and vulnerable children in primary schools. We pay all their tuition fees, provide scholastic materials, uniforms and other requirements for the girls and children under MSA scholarship. Our scholarship runs for 4 years for Secondary School girls — from Senior One to Senior Four — ensuring sustained support through the full secondary cycle.

Our Approach

How We Deliver Education

A four-step approach that ensures every intervention creates lasting change.

1

Assess

We work with communities to understand the local education needs and barriers — especially for girls and displaced children.

2

Establish

We establish and manage schools — secondary and nursery — in the places where they are needed most, including IDP settlements.

3

Support

We provide scholarships, distribute learning materials, and build teacher and PTA capacity — sustaining quality for the long term.

4

Advocate

We use radio, community campaigns and role models to promote girls' education and change the attitudes that keep girls out of school.
